Following on from my foodie’s guide to breakfast in Harrogate, it’s only a natural progression to cover the drinks side of things here in HG1! We’ve already established that I’m a huge foodie, but we mustn’t forget my love for enjoying a nice drink at the weekend or on an evening – or both. It’s about time I create a guide on some of the best bars and pubs in Harrogate, in my opinion. And I’ve been to a fair few!
The Disappearing Chin
If the name of this bar doesn’t have you feeling intrigued then I don’t know what will! The Disappearing Chin is Harrogate’s first cashless bar. It’s very new on the Harrogate bar scene but no less worthy of being on this list. This independent bar is run by a fun-loving couple starting a venture in something they had never done before.
The Disappearing Chin is a pretty unique location and interior, with a long wooden bar situated in the middle of the narrow space, and unique seating available on either side. It’s certainly cosy, but you’re guaranteed a good vibe. If you’re after something a little quirky and don’t carry cash, get yourself to The Disappearing Chin!
Banyan in Harrogate is an old but firm favourite. If you’re looking for a good time, you won’t be disappointed here! With 2-4-1 cocktails every day, Pornstar Martini trees and a range of seating inside and out, Banyan is a fantastic Harrogate bar for socialising with your friends and loved ones. You can also book a gin or cocktail masterclass, both of which are great fun and particularly good for groups and special occasions!
This Harrogate bar is located on John Street, which always has a great vibe on a weekend or evening. Whether you’re after daytime cocktails or evening drinks and music, Banyan is a great and lively option.
Everyman Cinema in Harrogate is a seriously underrated Harrogate bar, but it’s so much more than just a cinema. Everyman’s vibe is like a stylish, professional New York-style hotel lobby, in the best way possible. With luxurious seating and a gorgeous balcony with outdoor seating, Everyman is a fantastic bar come day or night, with lovely wine, beers and cocktails on offer. It’s a sophisticated affair with great music and a wonderful interior, and so it’s perfect for those more relaxed occasions.
Porco Rosso is a valued independent in Harrogate. I already covered this bar in my blog post on The Ginnel in Harrogate, but it needs its place on the best bars in Harrogate list! This fantastic wine and cocktail bar is unlike any other in HG1 and has some serious speakeasy vibes. They also have a pizza + drink for £10 offer and let me tell you, their fresh homemade pizza isn’t something to be missed. Porco Rosso is a great date night bar or place to catch up with some friends.
The Little Ale House
I only recently visited this lovely micropub after having it on my must-visit list since the beginning of summer, but the wait didn’t disappoint! The Little Ale House is an independent micropub packed full of character… and booze. This pub focuses on offering beers from smaller breweries, which they’ve perfectly matched with a small selection of hand-picked wines and gins.
It’s certainly small, but they’ve extended their seating into the cellar, which has some serious Diagan Alley, Harry Potter vibes (in a good way). It’s rustic and friendly, and a great place to drink the hours away with some quality and unique beverages. Easily one of the best pubs in Harrogate!
Cold Bath Brewing
Cold Bath Brewing is a taphouse offering a fantastic experience to all types of customers, groups and occasions. This bar is a brewery and bar in one, and the interior is beyond unique. Having previously been a garage, odes to the interior’s old usage are present throughout the space, balanced with the brewery equipment and impressive bar area. You don’t need to like beer to come here, though, as they have a great wine and gin selection too. This is definitely one of my favourite Harrogate bars, particularly in summer as they have a great outdoor space.
Gino D’Campo Roof Terrace
If you’re looking for good vibes and good drinks, who doesn’t love a roof terrace?! And Ginos easily has one of, if not the, best roof terrace in Harrogate. And don’t worry, it has a retractable roof and heaters to make this roof terrace perfect all year round! With Ginos’ signature turquoise features, neon signs, a beautiful bar and amazing drinks menu – what isn’t to love? They also often have a DJ playing on Friday and Saturday evenings to create a fantastic atmosphere.
We’re lucky to have so many fantastic bars in Harrogate, and this is only a fraction of the selection available to visit! These are the best bars and pubs that I find myself drawn to most, and they immediately spring to mind when I’m asked for recommendations. Chin chin!
