A Chic and Affordable Way of Decorating Your Walls

A Chic and Affordable Way of Decorating Your Walls

I know what you’re thinking. This gal moves into a new flat and she’s turned into some sort of wannabe-interior designer.

OK I hope you’re not quite thinking that, but moving into a new space has got me feeling all kinds of inspired!

If you follow me over on the ‘gram and have been following the development of our space, you’ll have seen the wall decorations I’ve been using to personalise our home – PRINTS. Lots of prints. Prints  g a l o r e.

They’re such an easy and affordable way of decorating your walls. I really feel like it’s the decorative items that make the finishing touches to a home and I think wall decor is a great way to inject your personality and style into an interior.

Although I recently collaborated with Desenio on my dressing table wall on Instagram, this post is by no means a sponsored. I had actually already bought the prints in our living room, kitchen area and bedroom prior to the exciting collab!

So, why are wall prints so great?

Firstly, there are so many options available when it comes to prints. I mean, there must be thousands, all of different styles. Sassy slogans, botanical designs and abstract patterns are just a few among the types of prints you can find. There really is something for all styles and you can get really creative and fun with them… our Chop It Like It’s Hot Snoop Dogg reference on our kitchen print makes me laugh every time I see it. Genuinely – Keiran thinks I’m weird.

There’s no wall art more budget-friendly than some framed prints. Prints themselves usually range from around £7-£20 depending on the size you want, and you can grab some brilliant frames from IKEA for less than the price of their meatballs! And because the prints are so affordable, you don’t need to worry about how long you’ll enjoy their style for. You can switch up your walls quickly and easily by replacing them as and when you fancy mixing up the style of your space! It’s great to not have the pressure of needing to like something for a long time – although I don’t see myself going off ‘Namaste in bed‘ any time soon, to be honest.

But what I most enjoy about prints, is the scope available for decorating with them. From single statement prints to gallery walls and collages – you can experiment with different arrangements throughout your home and depending on the space you’re decorating. We went for a neat three-in-a-row vibe above the sofa, but I opted for more of a jigsaw collage above my dressing table. On other walls, we have a single large print – cue the basic avocado print (my fave, I must admit). And you can also mix it up with different sizes!

If you’re concerned about marking your walls with the use of prints, fear not. We use Command strips that allow you to stick your frames onto your walls without damaging the wall at all. The strips are sticky on both sides but Velcro’d in the middle, so you can actually take a frame off the wall, replace the print inside, and velcro it back to the strip that’s on the wall if you need. It’s bloody marvellous.

So it’s pretty clear that I’m a big advocate of wall prints, and I’m a sucker for a well-decorated wall. Although I love and highly recommend Desenio for their selection, wall inspirations and service, there are many different brands selling prints to choose from.

Let me know if you would like links to any of the prints in the photos, but all of them are from Desenio.co.uk.
