No fashion-conscious individual can avoid the faux fur trend that took A/W 2018 and the beginning of this year by storm. Faux fur coats have been charging through the streets and down the catwalks right into many of our wardrobes, and I’ve finally added one to my collection.
I must say, though, it took me a good while before I found one that I actually wanted for myself – but it’s well worth searching for the right faux fur garment and adding it to your wardrobe. Why? Well, I have a few good reasons…
1. Always on Trend
Faux fur coats and jackets have been on trend for years, with this past year being no exception – some might say they’re timeless. Instead of phasing out, they only seem to be getting more desirable and more fashionable, so why not invest now to fashion a trend that has longevity? It just makes sense, really.
2. Unbelievably Cosy
You might be thinking weeeell, faux fur really isn’t that practical is it, so should I be investing in a waterproof coat that has a hood instead? Well, they might not be waterproof (nothing a good umbrella can’t solve), but they’re guaranteed to keep you warm through the winter months. Faux fur coats, no matter how thick or shaggy you go, add a wonderfully warm and cosy layer that you’ll be thankful for. Mine is literally warmer than my ‘practical’ winter coat!
Still not sold?
3. Extremely Versatile to Style
There’s no better way to justify a clothing purchase than by commenting on its versatility. What really attracted me to the faux fur coat trend was knowing just how much wear I would be able to get out of a coat like this, assuring myself that it would go with pretty much any outfit I threw on (and that it does).
Faux fur can be styled up with dresses and heels, or the globe’s favourite ‘jeans and a nice top’ vibe, but your faux fur coat will see you through your more casual days too. Whether you opt for some baggy trousers and trainers, or boots and jeans, your faux fur coat is the perfect layer to throw over the top, making every outfit look super chic whilst keeping you cosy in the process.
4. High-Street and High-End Options Available
As with most coats, there are many faux fur coats available at a wide range of prices. If you’re looking to add one to your wardrobe without breaking the bank, the likes of Missguided, Topshop, and Primark have styles that sometimes start from around £35 and over, Primark even less of course!
As always, ASOS is a fantastic place to see multiple brands and price tags in one place, so is perhaps a good place to start – who doesn’t enjoy spending their weekend scrolling through ASOS, after all?
5. Wide Spectrum of Colours to Choose From
I’ve seen nearly every colour under the sun of faux fur coats, particularly over the last 12 months, during which time they seem to have become more and more adventurous – from the classic blacks, browns and creams, to yellows, reds, polka dots and more. You can choose to go jazzy or opt for a colour that you’re likely to remain fond of for longer with something more classic and simple, the world of faux fur coats is your oyster!
I personally wanted a colour that I knew I would always love, which is why I opted for the Vila Faux Fur Coat from ASOS in a wine/burgundy shade. It’s a colour I have rarely seen on a faux fur coat, which obviously made me want it even more! You’re likely to find a faux fur coat option – or several – from your favourite brands and shops. so get looking! If you’ve been thinking about trying one for a while, I wholeheartedly encourage you to cheer up your January with a new purchase – am I a bad influence?
