How to Get Organised in 2018

Every stationary lover’s dream

I‘ve started this year with a bugger of a cold, but also with the sheer determination to make 2018 as best as it can possibly be! Many of us use the new year as an excuse to improve on anything we feel needs to be improved, and to try new things that will help us to to achieve the goals we want to achieve throughout the year. This is certainly me this year – not quite the whole new year, new me malarky, but I’m feeling motivated to make this year even better than last.

When it comes to planning anything, I’m generally a pretty organised person that tends to just remember things and organise them in my head. I’ve never really used an organiser or planner except for at work, and any that I have had I have tended to forget about and ended up dismissing. However, let me tell you about this organisation-dream – something I didn’t realise I needed until I had it! It’s already helping me to get this year off to a positive start (despite the illness), and so it would be rude not to share and allow you to do the same.

HELLO DAY PLANNER

This beautiful Hello Day planner was gifted to me at Christmas. I’ve always been a lover of stationary and so this was pretty much the perfect gift – it combines marble, gold, and stationary into one. What’s not to love?! This planner has been designed with you in mind. It’s not just a pretty planner with the regular days and months inside. Ohhhh no, the Hello Day planner is set out in a way that is motivational and encouraging, helping you to achieve your goals day in, day out.

If you’re looking to get organised this year and set out goals that will help you become a better you, having the right planner can make the world of difference. It’s not an effort that you write in for the sake of it, but instead something that helps you to start your day with enthusiasm and motivation, and end the day with successful and satisfying accomplishments.

There are many features of this planner that make it so much more than your average organiser. Dotted throughout it are four motivational quotes that can be cut out and framed, or used as a simple positive reminder as you flick through your planner. Throughout the days and months there are small quotes that remind you that each day is a fresh day to start over, start something new, and to be positive (my goodness is this needed during the hellish month of January!).

For those intimidated by a planner, which is completely understandable, the Hello Day planners walk you through the process that allows you to use the planner to its full potential. There are monthly, weekly, and daily sections of the planner. From goal planning and tasks for the upcoming month, more specific weekly tasks, a space to plan meals and shopping, and daily advice to make sure you set aside time to look after yourself.

Organisation of the planner is made even easier through extra stationary additions that are oh-so-satisfying for fellow stationary addicts. The planner bookmark helps you to easily navigate to the right day (this could have been useful during the days between Christmas and New Year), and the knotted tassle paperclips are another great functional addition for saving pages you specifically need. And they just look pretty damn cute.

Of course it helps that all of the Hello Day Planners are bloomin’ beautiful. If this isn’t encouraging enough to have a successful and organised year, then I don’t know what is! There are 5 different designs but the Carrara is so me… I’m such a sucker for marble anything. There are two versions of each planner, I have the minimal but there is also the originalThe original Hello Day planner features many lifestyle elements which inspire a healthy mind and body, whereas the minimal diary is a little more stripped-back.

Tips on Getting Organised in 2018

Tips on Getting Organised in 2018:

  • If you are like I have been in the past, an in-the-head organiser rather than a jot-it-down organiser, I highly recommend trying the latter. There’s something extremely satisfying about planning your days and setting out your monthly goals. And it’s even more satisfying when you complete them!
  • If you aren’t used to using a planner, I would definitely recommend dedicating some time to read through it. Get to know what there is, and also set time aside to fill it in. This is important to help you get into the swing of using one at first, but then the rest is history! It becomes second nature and a natural part of your routine.
  • It’s good to set small and achievable goals that work towards the bigger picture. For example, at the end of last year I jotted down some goals I hope to achieve with In Between the Food by the end of this year. These are very much the end-goal but it’s great to set small goals throughout the year that will help with this, such as creating more content, coming up with more content ideas, etc.
  • For many, the new year means new health and fitness goals. Christmas has been a month (or two) of excessive chocolate and drinking and so the new year requires a detox. Having a planner isn’t just good for organising errands and day-to-day tasks, but it’s also great for planning your food, exercise, and water-intake for the week. The Hello Day planner has an AM, PM and EVENING section for each weekday, making it perfect to organise and jot down your daily food and exercise routines.
